Turning Point’s Oakland educational services are named for the moment of choosing a path away from struggle — and towards understanding one’s own capacities, building skill, and taking positive action — including advocating for one’s own learning needs. Turning Point is about highly personalized, one-on-one help for students challenged by dyslexia, attention and executive function issues, and difficulties with all levels of reading and writing — as well as foundational math through algebra. We also provide consultation and referrals for parents, and supervision for educational therapists completing their required supervisory hours.
Carolyn Edwards, M.Ed., B.C.E.T., director and educational therapist, has over twenty-five years’ experience as a learning specialist, classroom teacher, and child advocate. She has a B.A. from UC Berkeley, and has directed Turning Point since 1995. She is board-certified member of the Association of Educational Therapists and is also a published writer. www.carolynmcvickaredwards.com
