Helping families obtain IEP supports and services

Caring for a child with special needs can be overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. Many resources exist to support your child. But identifying, obtaining, and maintaining those resources is often a complicated and daunting task that can frustrate even well-informed parents. Through our advocacy and legal representation, we are here to help you navigate the system.

Since 2008, attorney Martha Watson has provided quality legal representation to parents of children with disabilities regarding their child's individualized education program, commonly known as an "IEP." She works closely with parents. Together we champion the right of children with disabilities to a free appropriate public education that meets their unique needs.

Working to empower families

We believe that all individuals are entitled to lives of dignity and social engagement. To this end, we are committed to helping families understand their educational rights.

Our goal is to empower families, such as yours, by identifying and working to obtain the educational tools and supports they need for their loved ones with disabilities.

A former teacher who has taught special education classes, attorney Martha Watson brings valuable practical experience to resolving special education law matters under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, commonly called the "IDEA," and relevant California law. Read more.

We may review your child's educational record, help with the development of an appropriate Individualized Education Plan (IEP); identify and secure placement in an appropriate educational setting, secure appropriate educational supports and services; obtain needed assessments, including independent educational evaluation (IEE); help with some disciplinary matters; represent you and your child at an IEP meeting or mediation or at a special education due process hearing or in federal district court---all with the goal of obtaining appropriate educational support for your child to meet your child's unique needs.

Serving families across California

Geographical distance from our office is not a barrier to our representation of any family in California. We have represented families living as far south as Riverside to up north near the Oregon border to along the California coast to as far east as Truckee.

We understand that not every family that needs legal representation can afford to pay legal fees. For this reason, as a special service, we offer special education due process legal services without charge to qualifying families.
