Abilities Discovered


Abilities Discovered uses Art to help Youth ages 5-22 yrs old, with Autism Spectrum Disorder to improve BEHAVIOR & gain better SOCIAL SKILLS. ABA Therapy combined with Art Therapy techniques are used to teach LIFE SKILLS that will lead to future gainful employment.  Social Skills. Confidence.  Independence.​Classes like Photography, Comic Book Making, & StoryTelling through Painting are held in San Mateo & San Jose, CA.

Ms. Scacco is a Rehabilitation Counselor with over 10 years of clinical counseling experience in the public and not-for-profit sectors.  Ms. Scacco’s areas of expertise are in Autism and other neurological & developmental disabilities. She has significant experience providing ABA Therapy for youth on the Autism Spectrum and giving valuable Career Counseling to persons living with Physical & Mental Disabilities. She is skilled with all levels on the Autism Spectrum, both high and low.  
Ms. Scacco has provided in-home and community activity-based behavioral therapy to many families in the Bay Area with children on the autism spectrum.
Ms. Scacco has extensive Art Therapy training gained from PSU, and vocational rehabilitation training and experience gained while working for the State of California, Department of Rehabilitation.  She is skilled in doing Vocational Assessments, Job Placement, and Rehabilitation Treatment Planning, ADA, and making recommendations for on-the-job accommodations.

My son took the photography class and comic book class. The classes are interesting for students and my son was always happy to go. Debbie also incorporates social skill development into the classes. She's awesome!
